Our Family Room Makeover with Raymour and Flanigan

Thank you to Raymour and Flanigan for sponsoring this post

We had the best time refreshing our family room with our friends at Raymour and Flanigan. We have been waiting a long time to do some updates to this room! After adding the large arched window and fresh paint, the look and feel of the room changed so much and we knew the furniture needed an update too! We knew we could count on Raymour and Flanigan to have an incredible selection to choose from at a reasonable price point! I have always loved the deep, down filled sofas but knew they often were out of our price range. We found these gorgeous Habitat Sofas and couldn't believe the price and quality.

They look and feel like those other sofas, but were a comparable and affordable choice! We absolutely love them. They are so deep that Jacob (my 17 year old son) and I could lay next to each other comfortably for movie night! Next was the chair selection. Once again, we had many to choose from. We wanted to keep the slipcovered look going and have something that was very comfortable, but wanted a somewhat tailored look also. We chose these Southampton Living Room Chairs and they are perfect! The color is a great compliment to the couches, but they come in many other colors as well! They are exactly what we were looking for!

For the coffee table, we wanted to keep the more transitional/modern feel going and found this Eider Rectangular Coffee Table. It’s sleek and modern yet has a classic element to it as well! I love the glass top and shelf!

We couldn’t be more pleased with the whole experience from start to finish! The customer service, communication and delivery were seamless and the beauty of the products speaks for itself!

Check out the below before pictures to see what a transformation this room has had!

Completing the Pool House With Walmart Home

Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post

We unveiled the pool house when it was just about complete. It was just missing one key piece, a rug! I had to be careful and smart with the rug I chose, as this is an outdoor space that will come into contact with wet feet and bathing suits! I found the perfect rug at walmart.com Walmart Home carries beautiful, affordable, machine washable rugs!!! Rugs that are both beautiful and functional! They also have fast and free shipping on orders of $35 or more.

I chose this gorgeous 5X8 rug. I was drawn to it because of its subtle color and pattern. I felt like it would add a little pop of color to the very neutral space. I couldn’t be happier with it. I especially love the hints of pink! I feel like it dressed up and completed the space, without any worry of it getting dirty or stained!

I love when I find something that has both form and function. It is beautiful, but also attainable and manageable. I know I can always find this type of product at Walmart! I can’t wait to host all the kids’ friends over without a worry! Here’s to stress free entertaining and cleaning! I linked some items I think would compliment this rug, also from Walmart Home, in case you are looking for more decor ideas. I think these floor cushions would be wonderful for additional seating. These pretty throw pillows would pull out the darker tones in the rug. This throw blanket would be great for chilly fall nights when hanging out with friends! These lanterns would be nice with these flameless candles in them. This olive tree in this basket would make a lovely finishing touch.

Pool House Reveal With Raymour & Flanigan

image0-7.jpeg

It’s finally time for the pool house reveal!! We partnered with Raymour and Flanigan on this and honestly, we couldn’t be happier! We have many pieces of furniture inside our home from Raymour and Flanigan and were excited to see their outdoor furniture! We love shopping here because they have reasonable prices, quality products and AMAZING customer service! When we began this process, we were looking for furniture that looked elegant and lovely, but could hold up to many wet bathing suits and wear! I fell in love with this Solano Outdoor 2-Piece Sectional it has the look of a beautiful sofa but the durability needed for outdoor use! It did not disappoint! We paired it with the Sherwood Outdoor Chair we like to mix and match pieces to avoid the β€œmatchy matchy” look and this went beautifully with the sectional. I think my very favorite pieces are the Phoenix Outdoor Coffee Table and the Phoenix Outdoor Accent Stool I love the shape and texture they add to the space!

I cannot say enough good things about Raymour and Flanigan. We worked with the kindest sales associate/manager at the Norwalk, CT store, Karen. She was so thorough and kept us posted on our order and delivery times. The delivery was smooth and the best part is they call/text 30 minutes before they are going to arrive. That takes the guessing game out of delivery and makes it so much easier! The furniture speaks for itself. We absolutely LOVE it!! High quality, reasonably priced and great customer service! you can’t go wrong with Raymour and Flanigan!

Entertaining Friends and Family with Walmart Home

image0-6.jpeg

I had so much fun finding some great products from Walmart to brighten up my outdoor table and ready it for friends and family! It has been such a wonderful feeling being able to invite people back into our home to enjoy a meal! I love bright, colorful tableware that puts a smile on your face and makes you feel like you’ve escaped to a fun, tropical destination! Walmart Home products do just that!

image1-3.jpeg

I set the table with these adorable lemon placemats. Not only are they bright and cheerful, but they are beautiful and well made. I then layered these fun melamine dinner plates, and smaller pastel plates and bowls from this complete melamine set. I used these utensils. I felt like they were a great medium between plastic and everyday flatware and they were super reasonable! I got these beautiful serving bowls that complimented the place settings. Finally I got this set of two pitchers, because you can never have just one type of lemonade!

I feel like we are all set and ready to entertain, thanks to our friends at Walmart!

DIY Trellis

image5-1.jpeg

I have always wanted to spruce up this big blank side of our house! Its a lot of siding with 2 windows that are not symmetrical to each other! I loved the idea of a trellis, but the one we really wanted was sold out with no back in stock date…enter my home hero, Mr. Seasoned Home! He studied the picture I liked and then, of course, had to make his ever favorite trip to The Home Depot!!! We decided to use PVC, because even though it is more costly, it requires little to no maintenance. Mr. SH felt this was a pretty easy project and completed it in about a day!

image9.jpeg

Materials to make an 8’ high x 16’ wide x 2’ deep trellis

(20) 1x2’ white PVC boards

(6) 1x3’ white PVC boards

(4) 1x4’ white PVC boards

Miter Saw

Nail Gun

image4.png

The first step was to fasten two of the 1x4 boards against the house. Next Mr. SH fastened the back legs (1x3) to the house. Then he built the middle trellis pieces, placing 2 full sized 1x2 boards 8” apart and then placed (7) 2’boards 1’ apart going down in a checkerboard pattern.

image3.png

We attached the checkerboard trellis to the back 1x3 leg with the nail gun and then attached the front 1x3 leg to that.

image2.png

Then he attached the top 1x4 to the trellis post by using a 6” piece of a 1x2, placing it on the back, so he could nail the front 1x4 across it. Then he did the same for the second 1x4.

image1-1.png

Finally, he cut (18) 28” long 1x2 to make the slats across the top and spaced them evenly 8” apart.

image9.jpeg

We added Clematis, a climbing, flowering vine to it and absolutely love it! Good luck and happy building!

Laundry Room Design Board

picmonkey_image-4.jpg

Oh the long awaited laundry room design board!!! I have been dreaming about this for 18 years!! Right now our laundry is in the basement and even though it is finished, it’s not at all inviting or enticing me to do laundry. It’s dark and cramped and slightly depressing! This is the part 2 of our small powder room/laundry room renovation and I cannot wait to get started! The space is currently a rather ;large and spacious powder room that is far too big for its needs! We are finishing up work on our tiny powder room so that we can start this one! Here is the existing space.

image0.jpeg

We will pull up the floor take off the molding and the wallpaper and start over. On the left wall we will have some sort of pull down drying racks like this. On the right we will have a Samsung stacked washer dryer and narrow cabinetry, so you can still see the focal point which will be this farmhouse sink under the window. I’ve always wanted a faucet like this one, so we will of course put it in here! We will put these sconces on either side of the window. We will have this ceramic tile as the backsplash and slate (I think 3”x8”) in a chevron pattern as the floor tile. We will also have polished (maybe honed) Carrara marble countertops along the cabinets on the right and sink sides. Thinking of baskets like these to hold stray laundry that collects before washes. Still deciding on an overhead light or maybe pendant over the sink? Ahh so many ideas! I hope you like the plan so far!

New, Small Powder Room Design Board

picmonkey_image.jpg

We are almost through phase one of our small powder room/laundry room renovation! Here is my completed design board for the space! I’m so excited for this tiny space! I love taking chances and doing things a little out of my comfort zone, especially when it’s a small space! I knew I wanted to use wallpaper and when I saw this wallpaper that @studiomcgee used in their home, I fell in love!

image0.jpg

It is a small space, so to keep it from looking like a cave, we will only do the top in wallpaper and the lower wall will have wood moulding and be white like in the picture below!! We’re deciding between the rectangle style or the second image that is a bit more unusual!

image1.jpg
Screen Shot 2021-04-05 at 4.20.37 PM.png

I’m super excited about how we repurposed an existing table we had and made it into a vanity! We will paint it Benjamin Moore Intrigue which is a very pretty green that matches the greens in the wallpaper. We got the Advance paint in a semi gloss finish because it has good coverage and will withstand any water that drips on it. We got this vessel sink because it is very narrow! As with everything else in this room, it must be narrow! We decided on Polished brass/brass fixtures. We will use this faucet. We had these sconces which we will take from the living room because they are perfect for the space and got this beautiful, affordable arched mirror. We added this overhead light and will put all the lights on a dimmer. Finally, we will use this 1x2 polished Carrara marble tile in a herringbone pattern! I got mine locally ($13 a sq ft), but linking a similar one.

I cannot wait for this project to come to life! I hope you love everything as much as I do!

Valentine's Day Decor Ideas

image0-2.jpeg

After Christmas, I always feel the need to simplify my decor, so I don’t do a whole lot for Valentine’s Day! I like to do just enough to feel festive! This year I am leaning toward soft pinks and more neutral decor. My go to this year for decor is Target. Below are some of the great items I am loving right now!

Pillows - I got these Heart Pillows and love them so much!

I also love: these embroidered pillows and these beaded ones too!

Wreaths - I have and love this corn husk wreath

image2-2.jpeg

I also love: this one and though it is not a heart, this one!

Garland: I got this garland and it is soft, petty and perfect.

I also love: This colorful oneο»Ώ

image1-1.jpeg

Decor - I love this planter and these mugs

Throws - This one is soft and super cute

I also love this one! It’s more bold in color

Here are a couple of other notable items at other stores:

I have this pillow and love it

image3.jpeg

I love this throw - cute and still somewhat neutral

I have a similar marble board to this one - it’s so pretty year round

These are so pretty and neutral, you don’t have to hang them, just display them

I hope these help to cozy up your home and add a splash of pink and red this Valentine’s Day!

Holiday Decor Must Haves - Part 2

I didn’t know I would be writing again quite so soon, but I couldn’t wait to share these Target finds. Some are from the Dollar Spot so I can’t link them, but I will still show them so you have a reference!

Dollar Spot Items:

Sweet Ceramic Trees - These green and white little trees range in price from small -$1 to large - $3. They are hard to find! I found the large last night and went back to the same store this am and found the small. My advice - they restock often, go first thing in the morning and don’t be afraid to go back the next day!

IMG_6236.JPG

Adorable Wood Countdown to Christmas Calendar - Sweet and well made for $5, with a wood house background and interchangeable signs!

IMG_6237.JPG

One Dollar Unique Shaped Bottle Brush Trees - They are super cute and different than your typical tree. And they’re $1!!

IMG_6238.JPG

Linkable Items:

Mistletoe with Red Berry Garland and Wreath - So delicate and simple. The wreath is smaller. Might be nice to hang a couple with this ribbon from a mirror.

Faux Cedar Hoop Wreath - I have the 18” from last year and love it! I got the 28” this year. It’s so delicate and pretty and unlike some of Hearth and Hand’s florals, it does not look plastic-y. It looks real!

Faux Cedar Stem and Faux White Berry Stem - These are delicate and lovely, and oh so real looking!

Cute Vase for filler above - Just super sweet, simple and made me happy!

Christmas Advent Countdown Calendar - If you wanted a more simple, industrial/farmhouse look, this would be the better of the two countdown calendars to get.

Letters to Santa Mailbox - so cute and perfect for families with younger kids!

Neutral Stocking - i’ve had these for a few years now and love them so much! They also come in a wine color!

Merry Pillow - Just adorable and on the smaller side!

Woven Tree Collar and Tree Basket - Just a couple of other options to put your tree in!

I’m sure there will be a part 3 - stay tuned!

Holiday Decor Must Haves

All I can say is for all the stores lacked during the fall season, they are making up for for the Christmas season! I have already found so many great items and there are a few staples from last year that I feel I should link as well! Here goes…

Perfect Faux Pre-lit Christmas Tree - This tree was everything and more last year! It was just what I was looking for. Perfect shape, not too tall and lovely! This sold out early last year!

IMG_0949.jpg

Woven Tree Collar - This was the most affordable, well made, reasonably priced woven tree collar! Jump on this one! Another item that sold out quickly! See picture above.

Pre-lit Garland - This was 9 feet long, perfect for draping over my 5 foot window! Last year was my first year with garland over the window and I absolutely loved it!

IMG_0541.jpg

Flocked Faux Christmas Tree - I’m pretty sure this is mine. It’s slim and the perfect size for a corner. I have had mine for 2 years ad they are the best for the price. The flock does shed some, but they are so cheap! I just put lights around mine!

IMG_0427.jpg

Red Nubby Tree Pillow - Also comes in green and blue! This was a hugely popular item last year!

IMG_0706.jpg

Now for this year’s items I’m eyeing…

Wall Christmas Tree - Love this so much!

Ornament Set for Wall Tree - Love these jewel tone ornaments!

White Felt Ball Garland - Just bought this to try out. Trying to decide between this and…

Wood Ball Garland - Just love the look of this one too!

Tiny Tinsel Tree - um because it’s tiny and I love it!

Ombre Bottle Brush Trees - I got the set, because it was reasonably priced! Have I mentioned I want to do a bottle brush mantle?

Bottle Brush Tree Set - See above reasoning.

Wooden Trees - A little more pricey but something about them speaks to me tremendously!

Mini Bottle Brush Trees - Are you seeing a pattern? Both tiny and bottle brush!!!

Glass Ornament Garland - Love the simplicity and beauty of this.

I am certain there will be a part 2 to this blog post, but these are just to get you started. I am being honest when I say that given the situation of being at home much more this year, I do think these items will sell out quicker than usual, so my advice is if you love it, get it!

10 Fall Favorite Items

I have been dong a lot of decorating lately and decided it would be best to put all my must haves in a blog post, so here they are!

1. Witch Hats Decor - these are super fun, easy and affordable and even come with heavy, clear fishing wire!

2. Assorted Size Bat Decor - An even more affordable and fun way to add a little spooky without the gross factor!

3. String Lights - did you really think these would not be on my list? Great for stuffing, stringing, all the things!

IMG_5858.JPG

4. Glass Pumpkin - since the stores were short on light up glass pumpkins this year, I decided to make my own using the string lights above and these pumpkins!

5. Essential Oil Diffuser - not only will this make your home smell amazing (make a different scent every day of the week), but it will also help your house be even cleaner. Get rid of those toxic candles and start using oils! I promise you won’t even miss your candles for a minute and that’s coming from a fellow candle junkie! You can email me to sign up as well.

6. Metal Pumpkin Tin - a great way to display your diffuser. Place it inside and put it on flicker mode and you have a glowing jack-o-lantern! Or stuff it with some string lights or flameless candles!

A1E4BD9A-7511-4148-B686-518CFFD2F675.JPG

7. Battery Operated Flameless Candles - fill the glass pumpkin, metal tin or just leave them out on the mantle. You will get all the cozy feels without the smoke.

8. Bat or Jack-o-lantern Sweatshirt - I have both of these and am loving this little festive way to celebrate the upcoming holiday!

9. Printable Art Decor - A great, inexpensive way to display fun art for the holidays!

IMG_5992.jpg

10. Cozy Pillows - warm up any space with a cozy, chunky pillow!

Fall Decor with The Christmas Tree Shops andThat!

IMG_4822.jpg
IMG_4829.jpg

This post is in partnership with Christmas Tree Shops andThat! All opinions shared here are my own.

I had so much fun shopping for fall decor at the Christmas Tree shops recently. They had such a great selection and were fully stocked with fall decor and so much more!! The prices were so reasonable and the decor looks fantastic in my home! I have always been a fan of CTS because I feel like every time I go, there is new merchandise both seasonal and otherwise, it’s like a treasure trove of goodness!

Mantle Decor

Porch Decor

This trip had me searching for some new, unique accents for my mantle and decor for my side porch. I knew I wanted wreaths and when I found the adorable, pumpkin shaped wreaths, I knew they would be perfect! I love that CTS had all the color stories, especially because I was eager to decorate out of the box this year with the blush pink/lavender tones! They truly had something for every style home!

IMG_4809.jpg
IMG_4833.jpg

I kept my mantle very feminine and floral this year. I wanted the pumpkin wreath to be the focal point and used the purple and lavender pumpkins as accents. The items complimented each other well and I added some height and texture where needed! I absolutely love how it turned out!

IMG_4834.jpg
IMG_4835.jpg

For my porch, I wanted to stay a little more neutral, so I chose items from the black and white story. I wanted the mums to pop and the decor to be able to work for this transitional time of summer to fall! I’m a sucker for anything that lights up, so this trio of ceramic gray pumpkins totally has my heart! I love how cute they look and love that they will add a little something extra in the evening lit up! I also can’t resist a cute Hello Pumpkin mat!

IMG_4816.jpg
IMG_4818.jpg

Overall, I cannot say enough positive things about my shopping experience! They had everything I could want and more for fall decor! I couldn’t agree more with their tag line β€œEvery season. Every reason.”
